Chaozhou Compatriots

      Chenghai keeps the ancient Chaozhou cultures: Chao dialect, Chao opera, Chao music, Chao dishes, Gongfu tea, print painting, lantern riddle, etc., which are ancient and elegant, with strong Chao style and charm. The local animal dance performance is famous both domestically and overseas.

     Chenghai is a famous hometown for compatriots and the red bow ships, with 680,000 compatriots all over the world, like Thailand , Singapore , Malaysia , Hong Kong , Macao and Taiwan . The golden autumn party held every 2 years makes the domestic and overseas Chenghai people exchange the friendship and make joint development plans.

      Zhanglin Ancient Port: Zhanglin Ancient Port has been the “conjunction of rivers and the sea”, “sea channel”, being the largest port of the eastern Guangdong in the end of Ming and beginning of Qing dynasties. It is the start point of the red bow ships, main port of the foreign trade, immigration of the Chaoshan area in the early times, crossing of Sino-foreign cultures, and the birth place of Chaozhou Shantou compatriot cultures.

     Chengyanggang for Thousand Years: It was the place of Fengling ancient port of the export port of Chaozhou , Tang and Song dynasties. Before Tang Dynasty, it was the Hanjiang mouth to the sea. In the 2 nd year of Taipingxingguo of the North Song Dynasty (977), Fengling Port was set up. In history, there were many rich businessmen, famous people, ancient houses, ancient temples, ancient stone carvings, huge ancient trees and mountains with waters. The long history and rich cultures there are rare absolutely.

     Hometown of Emperor Zheng: It is the only place memorizing the overseas emperor. Emperor Daxin of Emperor Zheng was born in Chenghai, being one of the 4 kings (emperors) with outstanding literary and martial achievements in Thailand , setting up the most powerful dynasty of Thailand in the history, with the high commendation of the Chinese compatriots all over the world, being called the “No. 1 Chinese to be Overseas King”.

      Former Residence of Chen Cihong: The No. 1 compatriot house in Lingnan is the former residence of Chen Cihong, set up in the end of Qing Dynasty and beginning of Kuomindang by Chen Cihong, the rich business man of the Chinese compatriot in Thailand, famous navigator, and entrepreneur, in the local national style and Chaoshan village house mixed with the western building features, which is ancient and elegant, being the typical Sino-western building style.
